Menagerie House is tucked away in an elevated position with unspoilt views over miles and miles of spectacular North Devon countryside. With snooze space for 12 in 5 bedrooms, this is a wonderful spot for peaceful family holidays, days away with friends, elegant hen weekends and celebrations with the chosen few.

You can’t fail to be impressed when you arrive – that imposing entrance, the columns, the gorgeous Georgian façade. Inside the rooms are arranged over three floors with interiors that are a seamless blend of modern and period style. On the first floor there’s a large, light and airy reception room where you can all gather together, outside there’s a huge garden with a terrace for summer barbecues, sweeping lawns for fun and games, and a big bubbly hot tub to soak in.

If your idea is to escape to a gorgeous house and stay put for a few days, this will suit you well, but if you’d like to get out and see what’s about in these parts, you won’t be one bit disappointed. The secluded location neighbours the Castle Hill country estate, Exmoor National Park and the beaches of the North Devon coast are just a short drive away. There are lovely country pubs, family attractions and activities all within an easy drive.

And here’s a little snippet for you; legend has it that Menagerie House was built for the mistress of the 1st Earl Clinton who lived at Castle Hill, so that he could ride through the woods to see her. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
