We often work with property owners right from the initial planning stages, advising on how this can be achieved, so there are features like level flooring, wide doorways, ground floor bedrooms, wet rooms, and flat or ramped access to outdoor areas. Beaverbrook20 and Churchill20 even have stairlifts and Shires features an elevating bed, an intercom system for caregivers, and a lift to a large sun terrace; in addition, hoists can be provided for the access friendly bedroom and the hot tub.

On top of that, access aids can be provided, like grab rails, bed rails, shower stools and raised toilet seats – you’ll find this information on the Floorplan/Rooms page for each property.

Are all main areas (kitchen/dining/living) access friendly?

Usually, yes. There will be level flooring throughout and room for wheelchairs manoeuvrability. You’ll find detailed information on the Access Statement for each property.

Do the ground floor bedrooms have ensuite facilities?

Most have an ensuite or adjacent wet room.

Are there extra charges for accessible aids like grab rails and shower chairs?

No, these are provided free of charge. They should be requested prior to your stay so that they can be left in the property for your arrival.

Is there accessible parking close to the house?

Parking is never far from the door at our holiday houses, and several have provision for dropping off by the door or into an access friendly entrance. This will be set out in the Access Statements.
