Sauna or Steam Room

Several of the carefully chosen properties in our collection have a sauna or steam room besides other amazing features like indoor pools, hot tubs, games rooms, movie rooms and children’s play areas.

Having a sauna or steam room to yourselves ups the lux and is just the thing for hen weekends and private spa breaks. It’s a great way to relax and rejuvenate and comes with so many health benefits. A sauna uses dry or wet heat to induce heavy sweating, which in turn promotes cardiovascular health by increasing heart rate and circulation, and lowering blood pressure. It relaxes muscles, reduces pain and tension. A steam room works in a similar way using hot water vapour to create humidity which helps to eliminate toxins, increase blood flow, ease chest congestion and loosen mucus.

The endorphins that are released during a sauna or steam room session lower cortisol levels and reduce stress, making you feel relaxed. Think of it as a detox - the immune system is stimulated, skin is cleansed and toxins removed. Use a sauna or steam room in the evening and the chances are you’ll sleep well.

Sleeps12 have holiday houses with a sauna or steam room in Somerset, Devon and Wiltshire, sleeping 10-30. Some of the saunas are in spa halls that also have a pool and hot tub, some are quirky standalone barrel saunas with glorious views over the countryside.

You can if you want to, though the norm is to wrap a towel around you.

Some properties provide towels and robes for use with the sauna or steam room. Some provide only towels, some ask that you bring your own towels and appropriate footwear for going to and fro. You’ll find this information on the Facts A-Z.
