Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire

Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is a very good starting point if you want to spend time exploring the beautiful ancient woodlands of Sherwood Forest. You’ll find plenty of inspiration here, including trail guides and other useful information, and to boot the staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to things to do around these parts and the best places to go.

If you got children on board hire Wildlife Explorer Packs before you set off; pop into the shop and treat yourselves to a good pair of binoculars to spot the wildlife in the forest, go to the café, hire a wicker basket and fill it with all manner of goodies for a hale and hearty picnic in Robin Hood country.

There’s plenty of parking at the main car park, but bear in mind that this is charged, there are loos, baby changing and accessible facilities at the Visitor Centre and mobility scooter hire is available . On the doorstep is Edwinstowe village where you can visit the church where Robin Hood and Maid Marion were married, and stop by for lunch at The Royal Oak or Launay’s Restaurant.
