Dawdledown - Accommodation

With snooze space for 12 + 2, a private outdoor pool, hot tub and play area set in enormous rambling gardens, Dawdledown is just perfect for large family holidays near Eastbourne and milestone celebrations with your nearest and dearest. Pootle slowly down to the end of the no through lane, go through the gate and park up; open the front door and step inside. The house has such a welcoming feel, your worries will slip gently from your shoulders; let your holiday begin….

Go left in the hall and through the double doors into the living room; like the rest of the house, it’s light and airy – and this is a huge room where you can all put your feet up for a family movie night or to chat and play games. A red brick fireplace houses a wood-burner to give a warm glow when you come back from a winters walk on the South Downs; for the warmer months, full height doors open onto the patio where there’s garden furniture and a gas barbecue.

Opopsite the living room there’s a shower room, and in between is the kitchen/dining room. This is another large, bright and airy space with a gorgeous heritage style kitchen, fully equipped for your large group stay. Gather together, raise a toast to that extra special birthday, pull back the floor to ceiling doors and step outside for pre-dinner cocktails. Hire private chefs from our Extras list to come and cook a celebration feast; take your seats at the table beneath the lantern roof and tuck in.

Upstairs are Bedrooms 1-3; Bedroom 1 is a large room with an ensuite bathroom that has a gorgeous free-standing bath and separate shower. Doors open onto the balcony so you can start the day with a cup of coffee out there. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed and Bedroom 3 can be a twin or double room; there is also a family bathroom on this floor with a bath and handheld shower.

Bedrooms 4 and 5 are on the ground floor, to the right of the hall. Both have a king size bed, and Bedroom 4 has its own WC with a sink. Bedroom 6 is in the wheelchair friendly annexe at the front of the house; this makes a great space for a family as it sleeps 4 in a double bed and a double sofa bed (suitable for children aged 16 years and under). As well as a bedroom, the annexe has a shower room, living room and kitchen, and its own courtyard with a hot tub.

The gardens are an outstanding feature of Dawdledown, huge and rambling with different areas to explore – the kids will love it and you’ll love too. There are big lawns to run and play on and a pond where a willow tree dips its leaves in the water; there’s even a ‘secret garden’ with stepping stones to discover, and a play area. All around the garden trees whisper gently in the breeze and flowers bloom, there’s a wisteria covered pergola to stroll beneath – it’s so magical, full of the charm of Enid Blyton days. The part walled pool garden has a secure locked gate and has room to lounge around, idling the days away; centre place is the pool for use from March to October. Enjoy lazy days and beautiful sunsets, all together in the haven of Dawdledown. Times to remember, days to treasure.
