Bishops Lydeard, Somerset

Quite a big village with lots going on – there’s a school, a library, a health centre, two pubs, two churches, and a few shops. Visit the working flour mill and admire the rural craft displays and the huge waterwheel, and go to the West Somerset Railway and take a ride to the coast on a steam train. The county town of Taunton is only a few miles away and the village is close to the Quantock Hills, the Somerset coast, and not far at all from Exmoor, so it’s a great base for exploring; it’s actually quite a delight to amble around the streets and wind up at one of the pubs for a pint on a summer’s evening.
