There’s something very magical about Smalls, the coastal setting, the fantastic views, the relaxed feel of the house, huge gardens that slope gently down to a private beach area… it’s so perfect. It’s like stepping back to a more peaceful world, of Swallows and Amazons holidays, where time seems to slow down, where days are long and full of joy, and the nights are so peaceful. With a 20% discount applied to all stays from 1st August to 30th September 2025 whos’ complaining? Book from now till Monday 21st July to secure this generous discount.

It’s the loveliest house, is Smalls. Inside is all light and airy and so tastefully furnished; the kitchen is very well-equipped, and the living room is beyond gorgeous with restful green tones and inviting velvety sofas to curl up on. 4 bedrooms (1 ensuite) sleep 9, there’s a shower room upstairs and a bathroom downstairs. The garden is to love, backed by trees, with paths to wander, lawns to play on, terraces for outdoor dining, and a hot tub with a view and a half over the estuary to Salcombe. Most of it wraps around the house, the other part is just a few strides across the lane and leads right down to a gate onto a roped off section of the beach – this is all yours so no worries about bagging your spot for bathing and building sandcastles.

You’ll be happy here, in your own little world, and if you want to go off exploring you’ll find so much to see and do. Go for a stroll on the South West Coast Path, immortalized in The Salt Path, take in that bountiful sea air, the sparkling sea and the spectacular scenery of this part of Devon. Just a few minutes walk away you can catch the ferry over to Salcombe to amble through the narrow streets and eat fresh seafood at one of the waterside restaurants, like Dick and Wills Waterside Grill or The Crab Shed. Hire self-drive boats or dinghies and explore the tucked away coves, take a fishing trip or go crabbing on the quay. It’s the kind of thing that summer holidays in the UK are made of.

If you fancy a family day out, there’s a lot to choose from. Learn all about the area’s rich seafaring heritage at Salcombe Maritime Museum, climb to the battlements at Dartmouth Castle, discover the sub-tropical paradise of Overbeck’s (NT). Notch up some perfect parent points with a trip to Paignton Zoo or Woodlands Family Theme Park where there are rides, sand diggers and animals to meet.

But truly. Best of all is busy doing nothing at Smalls. Playing on the sands, lazy lunches on the terrace, soaking in the hot tub, evenings around the firepit as the sun sets and spreads its glorious colours over the estuary. Dream a dream, make memories; let your next adventure begin.
