When you’re on your group holidays in Salcombe it’s only natural that you’ll want to try some of the delicious local food to be had in this area. So get yourselves down to Dick and Wills; this waterside grill and bar serves meat, fish and shellfish with a modern fusion twist, and ingredients, as far as possible, come from the local waters and fields. It’s a proper taste of Devon in a setting that’s just so relaxing. Inside has an air of sophistication, light pours in through the full height windows; outside on the terrace there are views across the estuary to the green hills of the South Devon AONB, palm trees move gently in the sea breeze. It’s a great place for outdoor dining on a warm evening in summer.
The menu keeps step with the seasons and offers mains like King prawn Aloo Gobi, Chargrilled 8oz gourmet prime Devonshire steak burger, Portobello mushroom burger, and Fritto Misto (local lemon sole, king prawns and Salcombe scallops in a tempura batter with Asian slaw); when it’s the right time of year Salcombe crab and Salcombe lobster are a treat and a half if you like seafood.
Dick and Wills is open for dinner and takeaway every day from 5.30pm throughout August, but is otherwise closed on Sundays. Check the website for seasonal opening times as they do vary.
