The House
Let your group holiday in Somerset begin as you pootle along the winding country lanes to Larkcroft. Step inside the spacious hallway and how lovely it feels, contemporary with quirky touches like the soft curve of the stairwell. It’s hard to believe that in its former guise this was the dairy of a busy farm.
Left of the hallway is the open plan living space where exposed timbers soar to the roof; to one end are sofas, a big TV, and for the colder days and nights, a wood-burner. Beyond is the kitchen/dining area, well-equipped, big enough to seat you all for a celebration feast. Off the kitchen there’s a utility room with a drinks fridge, laundry facilities and a loo.
Pad along right of the hallway to Bedrooms 1-4; Bedroom 2 has bunk beds (big enough for grown-ups), the others have zip and link beds that can be arranged as super kings or twins. Bedroom 1 has an ensuite bathroom, Bedrooms 3 and 4 have shower rooms.
Upstairs a mezzanine landing takes you to Bedrooms 5 and 6 with zip and link beds, and the family bathroom.
At the back of the house the secure garden has a large terrace with outdoor seating and a BBQ; across the lawn are the swim spa with a built-in hot tub, a sauna, and the games room. Soak up the relaxed vibe, the fresh country air and the happiness of you all being here. In this quiet corner of Somerset, good times are waiting.
Local Area
The joy of being together, sharing special times with your favourite people is immense, so we get it if you don’t feel the need to go out when you stay at Larkcroft. But, you’ve come this far, why not venture out into the local area?
There are footpaths waiting to be walked, through fields and woodlands, over to the Carew Arms at Crowcombe where you can stop for a pub lunch. Board the steam train at Crowcombe Heath and head off for a day on the beach; go fossil hunting at Kilve then wander back up the lane to the magical Chantry Tea Gardens, love the little harbour and the arts quarter at Watchet, spend a day on the sands at Minehead.
And the wilds that wait to be discovered! Have an Exmoor adventure, of picturesque villages, hills to climb, and wide-open moors, purple with heather, where wild ponies roam free. Visit Dunster where a castle stands on the hill above the village, walk along the river at Watersmeet, make a summit bid at Dunkery Beacon where the views roll on for miles.
Plan a quest in the Quantocks, take the kids to Tropiquaria Zoo, puff to the top of Wills Neck for a picnic, wander up through the sun dappled woods at Holford Combe, come out on the windswept ridge, spot red deer feeding on the slopes.
And here’s a little gem; not far from Larkcroft there’s a lovely little farm café called The Rocking Horse. They serve breakfast, lunch, tea and cake, local ales and ciders, and the most heavenly milkshakes…
Go on, make memories. They’re yours to keep.
