The White Swan, Eardisland, Leominster, Herefordshire
Expect a warm welcome at The White Swan at Eardisland, but no pretensions; it’s an honest and traditional village pub, family run, serving home cooked pub food in generous portions. They have a lunch, dinner and burger menu and on Sundays do a big fat roast with all the trimmings.
The supper menu has Scotch broth, Salt & pepper squid and Smoked salmon pate on the starters, and mains like Steak & ale pie, Tarragon & lemon chicken, and for the non-carnivores, a Red lentil & mixed bean casserole – as well as pub favourites of fish & chips and steak & chips. There’s quite a selection of drinks, including the landlord’s own fine ales; it doesn’t get much more local than that!
There’s a big beer garden with a play area out the back for when it’s hot, and open fires inside for when it’s not. Eardisland is one of the idyllic villages on The Black and White Village Trail so if you're planning a stop for lunch, here's one to try.
