The Globe, Milverton, Somerset

This friendly, family run, award winning pub in Milverton is surprisingly light and airy inside and quite modern, though it still retains the ambience you’d expect from a traditional village pub, with locals and diners enjoying a pint of the local brew and putting the world to rights.
It’s popular with walkers and diners alike and for an idea of what’s on the menu graze on Crispy Tortilla Chips, Tomato Salsa and Blue Cheese Dip, or Breaded Chicken Goujons with Honey and Lime Dip; start with Slow Roasted Oxtail Croquettes, Parsnip Puree and Carrot Crisps, or Roasted Goats Cheese with Apricot, Walnut and Watercress Salad. For mains choose Slow Roasted Moonbeams Farm Belly Pork glazed with Honey, served with Chef’s Potatoes and Seasonal Salad, or The Globe Fish and Leek Pie topped with Cheddar Mash.  Menus are always changing, in rhythm with the seasons and the fresh local produce that’s available, although Thursday night Burger Night remains popular. There’s a carefully selected menu for children, with high chairs provided for the very young ones. Outside is a pretty terrace, a lovely place to sit by day, or of an evening when the twinkly lights come on.
