Shearwater Lake is a manmade freshwater lake covering 37 acres within the Longleat estate in Wiltshire, formed from a tributary of the River Wylye. People come here to appreciate the wonderful scenery on foot, bike or horseback, or to stop for a picnic; others come for sailing or angling.

It’s a lovely place to go and connect with the great outdoors, to be close to nature and fill your lungs with wholesome fresh air. After a stroll it’s nice to round off your visit in the tea room, where they serve breakfast, lunch, tea and cake. Buy a bag of bird food, go down to the waters edge and feed the ducks. Simple pleasures are often the best.
