Wiltshire

Wiltshire is a lovely county, easily reached from London and pretty much anywhere in the UK, so it’s a great location for your family holidays and your large group breaks. The scenery is stunning and varied, with the flat expanse of Salisbury Plain and the rolling green hills of the Wiltshire Downs with their famous white horse carvings – a fantastic landscape for walks of all lengths. There are some very attractive villages, bustling market towns and of course, the ancient and vibrant city of Salisbury, with its spectacular cathedral where you can see the 1215 Magna Carta on display. The prehistoric heritage sites of Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circle are a draw to thousands of visitors each year, and the imposing Stourhead House and the tranquil landscaped gardens are equally popular, as is the magnificent Lacock Abbey, the setting for Wolf Hall and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. A family day out at Longleat Safari Park is an adventure not to be missed, with an unforgettable drive through experience where you can get quite close to a plethora of wild and exotic animals. It’s also good to spend a day pottering around some of the towns - Castle Combe, Bradford on Avon and Malmesbury are all equally appealing. Go exploring by car, bike, on horseback or on foot and you’re sure to stumble across a quaint country inn or tea shop where you can stop off for a well deserved refreshments.
