Oceans Restaurant, Bolberry Down, Kingsbridge, Devon

Oceans Restaurant has a fabulous location, high up on the clifftop at Bolberry Down, just off the South West Coast Path between Salcombe and Hope Cove. If you need an excuse to stop for sustenance after a bracing coastal walk, here it is; well, that sea air makes you hungry, doesn’t it?

If you’re up and about early go for brunch, served from 10:00am to 11:30am; tuck into a bacon or sausage Brioche bap, or opt for smoked salmon or Portobello mushroom. On the lunch menu you’ll find things like homemade burgers, duck salad and Pan-fried fillet of brill, oven roasted Crevette, buttered new potatoes, asparagus and tender stem broccoli, and on Sunday, a belly-filling roast. If you’ve sated your appetite with a picnic on the down try to find room for coffee and cake at least.

Inside the décor is nice and simple, light and airy; it doesn’t need to be fussy or distracting when the scenery is so spectacular. If it’s a warm day you really should sit outside on the terrace and make the most of the sunshine.

Dogs are welcome but they must be kept on a lead and should behave themselves.
