Oatley Vineyard, Cannington, Bridgwater, Somerset

They’ve been making wine at Oatley Vineyard in Somerset since 1989 but they’ve kept it low key, so it’s not all shouty and commercial; we like that. The setting is lovely, off the beaten track down a tree lined grassy lane near the Quantock Hills, deep amidst the glorious Somerset countryside. his family run business

If you want to go and try the dry white wines produced by this family run business you can book for a Tour and Tasting, which they do between May and October, when the weather is generally good enough to sit outside beneath the gazebo or at the tables at the top of the vineyard. Tours are self guided or they can take you round, it’s up to you, but tickets include bottles of wine for you to take home. Round off your tour with a picnic, they don’t mind that at all, so do bring one along to enjoy with your Oatley Vineyard wine. If you want to stop at the Cellar Door to stock up before you go home, well, who could blame you? Delicious crisp wines that have been produced from old vines growing on the rich red soil of the West Country and have won several awards – not something you can get your hands on that easily, so make the most of it.
