Frome Festival, Frome, Somerset

Every year for 10 days in July it’s Frome Festival time, a huge celebration of the arts with events taking place in over 40 venues across town or just outside of Frome. There’s live music, poetry, talks, workshops and experiences, plays and musicals, and art and photography exhibitions, taking the upbeat community vibe right across the board in the culture stakes.

The line up at Frome Festival usually includes some well known faces as well as up and coming local talent; in the past the likes of Paul Merton, The Levellers, Van Morrison, Mersey poet Roger McGough and TV historian David Olusoga have performed here. There’s something for all ages, including children’s theatre, and you won’t go hungry because there are plenty of food stalls.

Don’t miss the opening procession when the main street is alive with a happy extravaganza of colour and the sound of whistles, bells and music; it feels good to be a part of it.

Some events are free, others are ticketed – see the website for details.
