Coat Barn Reviews

10/10 - The kids LOVED the pool & games room. The adults LOVED how happy the children were entertaining themselves. We would’ve enjoyed it even more if the weather was better so we’ll be returning in the hope that we get some sunshine in the courtyard for a BBQ too. - Van Den Ouden

10/10 - We enjoyed our time there, maybe some more comfortable chairs outside. Apart from that, perfect. - Eastley

10/10 - Being met by Caroline, the manager, on arrival and given the tour of the property was helpful. The pool was enjoyed by all young and old. BBQ was great, we used it 3 times. Bedrooms, bathrooms and showers fantastic. Enough spaces for a quiet read if required. All facilities were excellent and we and our guests loved our stay. Hopefully be back one day! We visited Lyme RegisBridport and West BayFleet Air Arm MuseumLongleatHam Hill Nature Reserve and The Prince Of Wales Pub there. WellsGlastonburyClark's Village at StreetMontacute. Somerset Cider Brandy Tour at Burrow HillKingsbury Episcopi- Smith

9/10 - The whole property was in very good condition, and ideal for us all, the children particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and we enjoyed the layout, where we could be outside and they were within sight the majority of the time because of the layout. Our only suggestion is that for the two of us who have limited mobility the provision of handles within the showers would have been very helpful, especially as the shower trays are a little slippery. However the above is a minor point, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. - Webster

10/10 - We all had a wonderful time at Coat Barn, the whole family loved every moment. As a large group we rarely all get together and Coat Barn was the perfect place to do this. The accommodation is first class and couldn't be better. Everyone used the pool and games room, the central courtyard was ideal because it kept us all together but gave us space for safe play. Our only minus was having to be out by 10am which was hard to achieve and rather took away from the relaxing two days/3 nights we had been there. Whilst we appreciate the property has to be changed over for the next booking surely departure by 11am is possible if there is an extra person to do the changeover. Overall we should love to go back, but looking at the availability calendar we need to be thinking way ahead to book again, clearly a very popular property which isn't surprising considering how lovely Coat Barn is! - Lovatt

Response: "We would love to give our guests as much time as possible in our wonderful properties, but regrettably, we are unable to offer alternative check in/check out times due to the time it takes to clean and maintain our holiday houses in preparation for your visit. There is a lot to be done - not just the general cleaning, but also swimming pools, hot tubs and saunas to be maintained, gardens to be checked, BBQ lodges to be tidied, and sometimes odd jobs to be done. Even with an experienced team it still takes time to get the house tip-top for your holiday. We are sure you will understand; it's important to us that each and every one of our properties is absolutely perfect for our guests." - Sleeps12

10/10 - Loved the quality and comfort of the furniture, the volume and variety of the kitchen contents and the open plan living space. The only thing that could be improved was to mow the grass behind the swings so the children could have run and played football there. We visited Fleet Air Museum. - Packham

Response: "The area behind the play equipment is agricultural and therefore not mown regularly." - Sleeps12

10/10 - We enjoyed everything about the house. Shame the grass was not cut on the adjoining meadow as our 6 grandson would have enjoyed playing. We can recommend a day out to Cheddar Gorge. - Judd

10/10 - House was absolutely perfect and we had a fantastic time. - Innes

10/10 - Ham Hill and the Prince of Wales pub are perfect for a mini ramble with children and then a quick refreshing drink! - Lawton

10/10 - We had entertainment come into the property, Casino and Cocktail Making these were fantastic and the property is large enough to accommodate this. - Simpson

10/10 - The property is of an extremely high standard. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool. - Hamblin

10/10 - We loved the game room for the kids and the pool, the place is big enough for 17 of us and at the same cosy for those quiet moments. - Tagsa

10/10 - Coat Barn was the most perfect venue for our weekend. It was ideal for every member of the family ranging from 6 months to 74 years. The kitchen was so well equipped and every detail has been thought of. Everything was of a very high standard leaving us wanting for nothing. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you so much Sleeps 12. - Standing

10/10 - Our second time at this lovely barn and it accommodates our 8 adults and 10 children really well, they love having the pool so close, thoroughly enjoyed by both old and young. Clarkes Village shopping outlet really good. - Morgan

10/10 - It was an amazing house couldn't fault anything, kitchen was fully equipped, me and my two sisters came with our families and we all had such an amazing time the kids loves the pool and the space they had inside the property. Would recommend highly. - Rahman

10/10 - Loved the property. It had everything we needed. 18 of us had a very relaxing time. The house was very clean and welcoming and was exceptionally well equipped. Very very happy. - Pickering

10/10 - We loved every minute of Coat Barn. Caroline was extremely welcoming and the bottles of champagne and cake for mine and my husbands joint 40th birthdays was so thoughtful. We hope to return one day! Lyme Regis was a wonderful day out about 45 mins away. - Macleod

10/10 - The pool was fantastic fun. The length of the lounge/dining/kitchen is amazing. Recommend outside caterers cooking a meal - it was amazing! Lyme Regis is smashing. - White

10/10 - I am disabled and couldn’t get into the pool therefore a rail either side of the steps would have allowed me to get in. - Bartlett

9/10 - Swimming pool was great also the sky box office. Some baking tins and pans could do with replacing. But loved the place very comfortable. Had a great day in Weymouth also Lyme Regis. - Smith

8/10 - We had a lovely time. The welcoming gifts of cake and champagne was a thoughtful gesture. The kitchen was particularly well equipped and the house offered just the accommodation we needed. However, it could have been further improved in the following ways: 1. More fly repellents in the house as there were a large number of flies. 2. In the heat, the upstairs bedrooms were extremely hot. Understandably for safety reasons the windows could not be opened wide, therefore a fan in each room would have been welcome. 3. We were so pleased that you allow dogs on the premises but unfortunately it was not secure so one of the dogs escaped on to the main road. I am sure this could easily be rectified with some small fences. All in all we really enjoyed our week. - Fenwick

9/10 - We recommend a visit to Ham Hill. - Johnston

10/10 - All was perfect. From your services to the property itself to the manager of the property. - Castles

9/10 - Coat Barn is lovely and spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. There are two minor points that could have improved our experience: Firstly, the cold water pipes run near the underfloor heating which means you have to run the water for ages to get cold water - it would be great if there was a fridge with a cold water drinking feed in it so there is instant cold water. Secondly, the upstairs rooms get very hot and it would be great if there were a few more windows that opened in them. Room 4 is large but only has one window that opens and for health & safety reasons (which we totally understand!) it can only be opened a very small amount. The weather wasn't particularly hot when we were there but despite this, the upstairs rooms were far too hot. I can't recommend days out as we went walking every day. The walks we found were fantastic and the scenery was beautiful. - Boyden

9/10 - Extra DVD player in games room. All the hard surfaces made it very noisy. Sound absorbing material would help. The outside loungers look very stylish but are not comfortable. The helpful and responsive attitude from Caroline was much appreciated. Visited Wookey Hole- Bell

9/10 - Loved the size of the house and the facilities. Some form of fence to contain the courtyard would be good to stop little ones from running out. - Vickers

10/10 - Every thing was great. We can recommend Clarks Village for a bit of shopping. - Webb

9/10 - We can recomend the Fleet Air Arm Museum and West Somerset Railway for days out. - Martin

7/10 - A lovely property however the steps leading down to the front door need a hand rail to help younger children and those less stable walk down. The pool also needs a handrail for getting in and out for the safety of children. A really lovely property however accessibility for young children and those with disabilities needs to be looked at as a matter of urgency. Caroline the property manager was so lovely and helpful a real asset who goes out of her way to make families stays as enjoyable as possible. Days out we recommend are National trust places nearby. - Martin

9/10 - House and location ideal. Gifts on arrival and Caroline very accommodating. We can recommend days out to Haynes Motor Museum (good for all ages), Fleet Air Museium enjoyed by all and the Beaches. - Wickham

9/10 - The welcoming from Caroline was perfect . The barn was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. We found the beds very comfortable. Our only recommendation would be a couple of pool games. (Couple of balls, inflatables, water volleyball.....) . We would definitely return, it’s great for a family gathering - enough space to be together but equally enough space not to be on top of each other. - Mclaughlin

9/10 - Enjoyed the amount of space and of course the swimming pool! It was a brilliant house and a brilliant weekend. Hope to return soon. - Bishop Group

10/10 - The whole thing was amazing, far better than anything we could have imagined. We enjoyed trips to Flip Out in Wellington and the walks around Ham Hill. - McMillan Family

10/10 - Eveything was absolutely amazing, we were greeted with such warmth and everything in the house as in order. Enjoyed a visit to Montacute House and Gardens which was lovely. We will be booking again for sure! - Ray-George Party

10/10 - Amazing property! Clean and spacious with everything you could need provided. Will be booking again! - Strickland Family

10/10 - Terrific property, great space and very clean. Couldn't fault it and will use again. Very helpful contacts at all levels and prompt repayment of the cautionary deposit. - Lewis Family

10/10 - A hot tub would be the only improvement! - Logan Group

10/10 - We really enjoyed our stay at Coat Barn! - McDowell Party

10/10 - The house was amazing and Caroline was very accommodating. It was a shame the kids could not play on the grass in the court yard as it was so muddy. You could astro turf that area! We also had a fab day out at Lyme Regis. Kids also had fun at the local recreation ground. - Kohn Family

9/10 - Brilliant space - loads of room for everyone and very well kitted out. All in all a fabulous place - we loved it and had a ball. We visited Lyme Regis, very pretty for fish and chips. Thank you! - Harrison Family

9/10 - This place is amazing, so well equipped and comfortable. The only 1 thing which was deemed a downside was the heat....it was too hot. There is a go kart track not far away (driving). The Fleet Air Arm Museum is also close. If you want to amuse the kids then the recreation ground the other side of Martock is great. - Parker Family

10/10 - We enjoyed the house so much and really cant find fault the facilities. I would definitely recommend it. The beds are so comfortable!  - Eyle Family

10/10 - Coat Barn was perfect for our family. Lovely welcome from Caroline. Perhaps some maps of local walks but no complaints at all. Thanks! - Lesser Family

9/10 - The property is done up to an incredibly high standard. More stools around the kitchen island would have been nice.  - Scammell Group

9/10 - Super house for big gatherings. Lovely bedrooms, great to have 8 super king beds all with own bathrooms. Kitchen facilities great, loads of everything, made it very easy to cater for a big group. Super welcome cake and fizz! We enjoyed days out to Montacute National Trust  property and Ham Hill Park - Cannon Family

10/10 - The spaciousness of the house was loved by all & our celebration meal was wonderful in the imposing dining room, with the high spec and well stocked kitchen a bonus for our chef! There was great fun in the swimming pool & games room which were enjoyed by all generations. The champagne was a lovely touch for our celebrations & along with the cake was very much appreciated. It would've been helpful if there was disabled access from the car park (steps and high entrance threshold) plus one of the bathrooms having an accessible shower & toilet? A wonderful property for a family celebration, we'd certainly recommend it. Thank you! - Matthews Family

10/10 - House was well set up with lots of space so we got the best of doing things together or were able to find a quiet spot. Having the games room and pool separate from the house was great ... kept noise to a minimum. Only thing that would have improved the week was some more sun ... don't think you could have changed that! We went mackerel fishing one morning in Lyme Regis and played some golf at Long Sutton Golf Course and were made to feel very welcome. - Yardley Family

10/10 - The barn was extremely well equipped with lots of board games, table football, table tennis and the pool for those inevitable rainy days! Residents in Coat were super friendly. - Ahir Family

9/10 - Overall we really like this property and it suits our needs for a multi-generational family holiday. - Spencer Family

10/10 - Fantastic house and pool! - Ash Family

10/10 - The stay was perfect! We visited Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and The Fleet Air Arm Museum. - Shivji Family

10/10 - We have been to Coat Barn before and we love how spacious it is. The rooms are of a high standard and the kitchen is really well equipped. We had a great weekend. We didn't have any days out as it was too hot. We just stayed in the pool! - Hallworth Family

10/10 - Everything was almost perfect. We found the house so comfortable we didn't venture far! - Blow Family

10/10 - We found Coat Barn to be very spacious, the pool and games room were a wonderful addition and our family spent many happy hours enjoying these facilities. We found Coat Barn light and airy, apart from the lounge area, and fixtures and fittings of high quality. The kitchen and utility were fitted with high quality and very efficient ovens and machines, and we had everything we needed in terms of crockery, cutlery, glasses and all things one may use in the kitchen. The bedrooms were spacious, beds very comfortable, with lovely bedding, bathrooms had lovely hot water and excellent showers. My husband and I would recommend Coat Barn as a wonderful place to have a family holiday, as my family said, it was amazing! We went to West Bay which was a lovely day out and also Clark's Village Outlet, which we found to be very different from the outlet centres we know. We were impressed at the layout and stores to be visited. Our daughters went to Wells where they enjoyed their time, and Sherborne Abbey and Castle. - Greenwood Family

10/10 - Great house, fabulous space, comfy beds, all in all a fantastic house. We visited Barrington Court, West Somerset Railway to Minehead, and Dunster Castle. - Harris

10/10 - The house was lovely and very well equipped. The pool was excellent as was the games room. The only slight quibble which is really of little consequence is that we could have done with a larger tea pot!! We really had a very enjoyable stay. We remained local as the area was entirely new to all of us but there were some nice paths to Martock and Kingsbury Episcopi and for the children a splendid play area in the Martock Recreation Ground. - Jones

10/10 - The house was particularly well appointed and the large amount of crockery meant you didn't have to wash up after every cup of tea as in some places. We loved the opportunity for us all to eat together but adequate space to eat in the kitchen as well. A really well thought out property and so spacious. The swimming pool and games room were excellent. Maybe a small snooker table would make it even better and provide an extra facility for the younger guests. Also if at all possible somewhere to play football! - Austin

10/10 - We visited Clarks Village and Wookey Hole. - Griffiths

10/10 - We have stayed in a few properties before but Coat Barn is just superb. The layout and facilities are very family oriented. We were 17 family members aged 2-90 yrs old. Many thanks to all at Sleeps12 and the owner of Coat Barn for making this a celebration to remember. - Blatchford

10/10 - Top class property with loads of space for everyone. - Hawkins

10/10 - We have stayed in many lovely places and houses in different parts of the world. This however ranks right up there as one of the very best! A lovely house that accommodated 18 family members with more than enough space for adults and children. Each and everyone agrees - we would highly recommend to anyone. - Botha
