Coat, Somerset

Coat is a tiny hamlet on the edge of the Somerset Levels, about 8 miles from Yeovil and 6 from Langport. The larger village of Martock is under a mile away and is good for provisions. Most of the properties are built of the local Hamstone; quaint cottages and commodious farmhouses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Walk from here out onto the beautiful flat landscape of the Levels, or through the fields along the banks of the River Parrett, picking up part of the Parret Trail. What you'll notice most is the peace and quiet.
