No, we haven’t gone all David Attenborough on you (if only we had the time), but we do have an update to share. In line with the unique marketing names we use for our luxury large group holiday houses, the Somerset holiday cottage formerly known as Frog Street is now called Swallows Meadow!
We thought Swallows Meadow very appropriate considering the number of these agile little birds that make the journey from sub-Saharan Africa each year to build their nests in this little corner of Somerset. Who can blame them when it’s so lovely here – the peace and quiet, the open fields, wooded hillsides, it’s a wonderful place for a holiday, whether you stay all summer or just for a weekend.
If you’ve already stayed at Swallows Meadow, you’ll know how good it is, and how it’s a holiday cottage with something for all ages. If you haven’t been before, take a look. 6 bedrooms sleep 12 guests and there’s room for 2 more at an extra charge per person; there’s a games room where you can play pool, table tennis and air hockey, and outside, large grounds with seating/dining areas, a BBQ lodge with its own little kitchen area, a children’s play area, and wait for it, wait for it…. an indoor swim spa and a hot tub. So you see, not only is this a house for all ages, but it’s also a house for all seasons. Whatever time of year you come here, there’s plenty to keep you all happy and entertained.
Inside is lovely, lovely, all very homely and country modern, with all the creature comforts you need; it’s the kind of house where you feel so welcome and at home almost straightaway. You’ll probably be quite content to stay and play for the whole time you’re here, though should you feel the urge to go and explore the local area, there’s a lot to see and do. Walks from the doorstep through the fields, activities like boating, alpaca walking and laser clay shooting, and all kinds of attractions to visit from historic houses and museums to cider farms and animal sanctuaries. There are quiet market towns, Taunton, the country town of Somerset is just down the road, and there are tucked away villages with good pubs serving tasty home cooked food. And for days by the sea, the beaches on the Jurassic Coast are less than an hour away!
But what if there aren’t 12 or 14 of you? What if you don’t have that many friends? Ah ha, we joke, but fret ye not, because the smaller offering of this gorgeous holiday house is Swallows Rest, with 4 bedrooms to sleep 8, but still all those fantastic features.
So dive in, whether it’s a holiday with friends or family, a special celebration break, or an elegant hen weekend. Wear your biggest smiles. You’ll love it here.
