So, the proverbial goose is getting fat! And we can see our loved ones again! Only for a few days but what better excuse to find a last minute holiday cottage to rent for Christmas? Escape to the country and have a wonderful world of your own where you can celebrate in style!
When you choose a last minute holiday cottage to rent for Christmas with Sleeps12 you can rest assured that you’ll have everything you need to enjoy the festivities with your nearest and dearest because our luxury group accommodation has something for all ages. Heaps of space, super comfy beds, an idyllic setting and top notch facilities like indoor pools, hot tubs, games rooms and cosy BBQ lodges. You’ll have to be quick about it though as our large holiday houses are very much in demand right now and that’s understandable because let’s face it, it’s been a miserable old year, with us all being kept apart and having to follow rules and put up with restrictions. All for the common good of course, but even so.
It’s not going to be quite the same as any other Christmas, that's for certain. As Mr Johnson tells us, it’s ‘the season to be jolly careful’ but at least we can still be jolly and that’s something. From December 23rd to the 28th three households or support bubbles can get together and make merry; for Christmas 2020, making the most of it is crucial. Enjoy it while you can because none of us know how things will be in the new year, though hope is on the horizon for spring, they tell us.
So, book a Christmas break in Somerset and Devon, pack your festive jumpers, the Santa hats and the presents, put in an order for a grocery delivery and leave the rest to us. We’ll have our Christmas holiday cottages decked out for you, with a big tree and twinkly lights, somewhere to hang your stockings, and everything you need to cook up a scrumptious yuletide dinner.
Stay at Holemoor Stables in Somerset and you’ll have an indoor pool and a games room all to yourselves – something you can all enjoy together. This luxury holiday house sleeps 18 in 9 en suite bedrooms; there are 2 toddler beds for little folk aged 4 years or under, and 2 cots at no extra charge. Holemoor Stables is tucked away on a private estate deep in the countryside; take a Christmas morning walk round the fields or the lanes whilst the turkey’s in the oven, and get a big dose of mindfulness with the glorious views. What’s great is that if you have anyone in your group who likes their own space they can plump for the self contained annexe which has its own snug and kitchen.
The Plough near Bath used to be the village pub and still has its own bar, which is rather fun! You can play pubs, take it in turns to serve drinks, sit by the fire and put the world to rights (that’s a task and a half right now!) then wander through to the lounge and have a game of pool. This gargantuan group accommodation sleeps 27 people in 11 en suite bedrooms and there are two more beds available at a wee extra charge. If you’ve got babes in arms with you, 3 cots are supplied which means more room in the car for pressies! The Plough is a very trendy place with snazzy colourful furnishings, and outside in the garden there’s a covered hot tub so you can have a soak even if it’s rainy – once you’re in you'll soon warm up!
Or there's Pippinsands in Devon; this Gorgeous (note the big G there) thatched cottage is the perfect blend of rustic country living and mod cons. Despite how spacious it is, it still has a wonderfully cosy feel about it – what we say is that if this house had arms it would wrap them around you and welcome you the minute you step inside. It sleeps 14 and a ground floor integral annexe with a sitting room and kitchen is perfect if you have Grandma and Grandpa with you because they have their own space. 2 travel cots are supplied and get this – 2 dogs are welcome, so put the Christmas collars on and bring the family mutts along! In the garden there’s a hot tub, and a gate that leads out to the 15 acre private grounds. Go for a stroll down across the fields to the River Luv, come back and light the fire and snuggle round for a huge helping of Christmas cheer.
Also in Devon, in the glorious Blackdown Hills, is Foxhill Lodge, a gorgeously homely barn conversion that sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. There's a games room, a BBQ lodge and a hot tub you can use anytime of year. The location, on a working farm, is idyllic and the views are incredible, so you'll feel like you have a little Christmas world of your own here. Inside, the house is very luxurious with professionally designed interiors and everything you need to ensure a happy festive stay.
Back in Somerset, not far from the county town of Taunton, so very easy for access from the M5 and the A303, is Ilbeare. This is a lovely big holiday house with a very gentle ambience – absolutely perfect for families; it sleeps 14 in 5 bedrooms, with 2 cots provided if you need them. 2 dogs are welcome, and they’ll be perfectly happy because there are grounds of 2 acres for them to run about in. If the weather stays dry the little ones can have a whole load of fun on the swings or the trampoline, and you can all enjoy exploring the woodland. Teenagers will prefer to hang out round the pool table, in the BBQ lodge or the hot tub.
On a hilltop with far reaching views across the beautiful Somerset Levels is Orchard View, a fabulous holiday house built on the footprint of an old Dutch barn. It sleeps 12 (plus 1 more at a small extra charge) in 6 bedrooms, there’s table football and a pool table, and on the patio is a hot tub where you can sit and watch the sheep mooching about in the orchard. A lovely big sitting room gives you the perfect space to gather together on Christmas Day, a snazzy very modern kitchen/dining room sets the scene for your festive feast.
Make the most of it folks, love being together again. Make it a Christmas to remember, something to stand out in a year we’d all rather forget. But don’t miss out, book today!
