10/10 - We stayed at The Shires for a week to celebrate our Mother/Grandmother’s 80th Birthday. We arrived to a lovely welcome from Gary who came bearing the gift of a super home made cake 🎂 It was delicious 😋 We were shown around the extensive property and told how everything worked.
You cannot fault the property and facilities within The Shires. The swimming pool and spa area were brilliant and very well used by us all. We were so lucky with the weather so could use all of the outside spaces as well. - Fisher - September 26

10/10 - One of the best cottages we've ever been to. Absolutely loved the indoor spa, the layout of the cottage was perfect. The owners were so warm and welcoming, they've been extremely helpful and patient. Everyone loved the spa and cinema room. Everything was so clean, and well kept. It was exactly the same as the pictures but even better, what you see is what you get! Well worth the money, and the owners just made our stay much more comfortable too! 10/10 - I needed to find a property for 10 people from 2-70 years old which had good facilities for us all regardless of what the weather was going to be like (in August).
Shires fitted the bill perfectly and allowed us all to chill out and enjoy ourselves for the short time we were there. The pool was fantastic and the Premier League scheduled an evening Arsenal match on Sky the day we arrived. Great timing. All in all a wonderful long weekend. Thanks to Gary for hosting. 9/10 - We had a fantastic long weekend at The Shires with our large multi-generational family. There was something for everyone. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were perfect and a major selling point for this property. We spent hours making loads of memories here as a family. Any small issues we had, the owner responded promptly and sorted them out in no time. This has been the best family staycation we have had. A special mention to the delicious freshly baked cake they left for us on arrival! - Tiwari - August 26

10/10 - This house was just what we needed. My wife had a great birthday and Gary brought us a lovely chocolate cake, which was a nice touch. This house was very high spec and had everything we needed. We found the weather was amazing, but just wanted to use the pool room, switching from sauna, pool, hot tub on rotation. The hosts are amazing and can’t do enough for you.The ice machine was a big hit, and used a lot, but made us jump when ice was dispensed! We are definitely coming back. Thank you. - Wood - May 26

10/10 - The Shires is a fantastic, well-equipped house with stunning views and excellent facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay to celebrate my 70th birthday.Gary, the owner, met us on arrival to show us around and gave us a delicious home-made chocolate brandy tart (Thankyou very much).The pool area is amazing and was well-used by all, (especially the kids) and the football and pool tables also provided great competitive fun for all. 10/10 - We have just returned from an amazing stay with our family at The Shires. Lots of space, which was wonderful and everything we could have wanted. The pool area is absolutely fabulous. The weather was also beautiful so we were able to enjoy the wonderful outside space. The owners of the house were extremely friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. - Wright - April 26

10/10 - We have just enjoyed a 4 day break at Shires in Devon. We were a mixed group with guests who have extra needs. The provision at Shires was very good and the owner was happy to discuss the specifics before we headed down. The house had everything we needed and had enough to keep us all happily occupied, despite English Spring weather. We had Mikael from La Frog in for a special meal which was fabulous. 10/10 - Wow! What a fantastic place for our family to celebrate a 21st at the end of January! The pool, hot tub and sauna were wonderful (and the views just lovely) brilliant tv/gaming/movie room and the pool table was a big hit. Special mention to the owners, welcoming and helpful. The little touches made all the difference too from Nespresso pods and dishwasher tabs to gowns for all and a great utility room (we got very muddy on our walks!). Perfect 👌🏼 - Pearce - Jan 25

10/10 - Just fabulous place to get away for lovely country walks, yoga on the decking, cosy nights in front of the TV or to have a spa retreat with a fabulous indoor pool, jacuzzi (seating 10) and sauna. With the addition of the BBQ lodge it really didn't matter what time of year or what the weather is like. You'll still have a great time at Shires. 10/10 - We stayed at Shires for our child’s 16th birthday, and we honestly couldn’t have found a better place. The accommodation was spotless, clean, and tidy, with plenty of open space for everyone to enjoy. The pool was an incredible bonus and a huge hit with the children!
The owners were absolutely amazing – nothing was too much trouble for them. Their hospitality made our stay extra special.

10/10 - The Shires was absolutely fantastic! The space was wonderful for 11 people, and there was everything we could have wanted. The pool area is absolutely amazing and lovely, and warm! It didn't matter what the weather was doing, we had plenty to do, including pool table football and an excellent cinema room! 10/10 - The owners were great - we knew they were there if we needed them (last minute highchair) but didn't intrude. We were shown around and provided with key information (thankfully how to reset the alarm after we burnt the toast!). The property was as others had reviewed - amazing! The dressing gowns were a great addition for when we got out of the pool. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for the long weekend. We didn't need to venture outside of the house as the weather was beautiful which meant the children were able to play outside in the play area in addition to the pool. 10/10 - Property was amazing. Tiniest niggle that the right hand side fridge door was tough to open so we mainly used the left hand fridge. 9/10 - We loved that everything worked exactly as it should. The kitchen was well-equipped, the pool was clean and refreshing, and the sauna was easy to use. The only things that could have improved our stay were wardrobes and dressing areas in the bedrooms, as well as better non-stick pans in the kitchen. 10/10 - The house was spotlessly clean and the best equipped house I’ve ever stayed in. The showers were outstanding, decor perfect, facilities that rivalled a spa!! The ONLY thing (if I really had to pick something) was that the beds (we chose single beds) moved far too easily when getting in & out - could do with some stoppers on. That said it didn’t not affect our stay at all.
Gary the host was amazing, very friendly and was on hand if we needed to ask anything. Even offering to post something back to me that we forgot once we left. Thank you. Overall it was the perfect venue for our gathering and I would highly recommend. - Adams - Feb 25

10/10 - We really enjoyed the Scandinavian Bar-B-Q hut which we used for Friday nights meal this facility is exceptional. We also loved the swimming pool complex which was used extensively by all my family from my 5 year old grandson to me celebrating my 70th birthday. Although the property is well equipped perticully the kitchen with plenty of everything, the toaster was not very user friendly.
