From the doorstep you have access to some truly stunning countryside; pack up a hamper and head to the hills for a picnic; if you climb up to the top of Cothelstone Hill or Wills Neck you'll have some of the most amazing views out over the spectacular landscape; you can literally see for miles. The Quantocks lie in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and are a delight for walking and cycling, or horseriding over rugged hills and along coast paths with Quantock Trekking; that has to be one fo the best ways to see the sights. Pootle about the quiet lanes you'll find some charming watering holes for a lazy pub lunch or a pint of traditional cider; the Rising Sun at West Bagborough and The Carew Arms at Crowcombe are both very good. If you go just up the road to the Farmers Arms at Combe Florey you can even have your own private dining room.

Close by is the medieval village of Dunster with its ancient castle standing high above the streets, or for shopaholics, the county town of Taunton isn't far, with a range of high street and independent shops. Spend a day gallavanting around Exmoor National Park and take in Tarr Steps and the Valley of Rocks, or amble along the river at Watersmeet and round it off with big fat scones with jam and cream in the tea shop. If you fancy a day on the beach both the Somerset Coast and world famous Jurassic Coast are both within an hour's drive; go to Minehead for bucket-and-spade seaside fun, Soak up the maritime feel of Watchet Harbour, go fossil hunting at Charmouth, or deep sea fishing at Lyme Regis. Take the youngsters to Tropiquaria Zoo just a few miles away, or further afield, Brean Theme Park or Wookey Hole. With so much to see and do in this wonderful part of the West Country, plus a stunner of a holiday home, it'll be a large group stay to remember.
