10/10 - We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Shires for a 40th birthday celebration. The house was perfectly designed for a large group. It had all the facilities needed in the kitchen and a lovely large dining table. All showers were excellent. All appliances and facilities were high-spec. The pool area was amazing and this made our weekend. We were also able to use the hut outside and toasted marshmallows. The outside area is fabulous and the view can be seen from the dining room and the bedrooms upstairs. I imagine it would be amazing in the summer with some nice weather. The host was great and showed us around the house on our arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay and would highly recommend the Shires. Thank you. - Simpson - March 24

10/10 - We had 7 children and the absolutely loved the pool. You have a really nice set up. We totally recommend it. - Oliver - March 24

10/10 - The Grandchildren absolutely loved the pool. So nice to have a house with everything a family of 14 needs. Excellent - Norris

10/10 - The whole property was so well equipped. Clean and tidy. Fully enclosed for the dog. The pool was the highlight. A fantastic facility and kept the kids amused for hours! Thanks for a great stay. - Shambrook

9/10 - The property was well equipped with everything you could want for a family holiday. The kitchen could have done with more oven space, although the owner said that she was planning some alterations to include an additional oven. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and the outdoor space was more attractive than in the photos since the shrubs and trees are now grown. The owner was helpful (she returned a laptop charger we had left behind at no charge) and also dealt with a leak in the utility room. - Grimes

10/10 - The 5 grandkids spent most of their time in the pool, our floating water volleyball was particularly enjoyed by adults and kids alike. The gas BBQ was spotlessly clean, but showing its age with uneven cooking. Some bbq cleaning tools would be good. Overall the accommodation was spotlessly clean with ample crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and very comfortable. We had a brilliant time. Thank you Tammy and sleeps12.com - Hockley

9/10 - The layout of the accommodation with the swimming pool and the play area closeby meant that we supervise the children in close proximity. We would certainly book again. - Kellar

10/10 - It was fabulous. - Howarth

9/10 - Having a private pool at the property is a huge benefit. It's kept at a lovely temperature and is a good size, it's just a shame you have to go outside to access it. We recommend a walk to Wills Neck for Beautiful views. - Waller

10/10 - Fantastic Host/Manager who was extremely helpful the accommodation is great very neat and clean with everything that we needed and a lovely pool. Totally enjoyed our stay and would most certainly book again. - Moodley

10/10 - Had a fantastic time, children loved the pool, house was brilliant with everything you could need. We visited Cheddar GorgeLyme Regis and Minehead. - Morley

9/10 - All very good, having our own pool was great. - Pond

8/10 - Property was fabulous. Lacked some equipment such as salt, pepper, tin foil etc but I assume that may be due to COVID 19. Would definitely return. - Noakes

9/10 - Most places we wanted to go were closed due to the virus so we just drove around to find places to walk but the children enjoyed the pool. - Kingston

9/10 - The house was perfectly appointed for us and well furnished, clean and well equipped kitchen. We thought the choice of tiles round the pool was poor as they are slippery. Chairs In the bedrooms would be useful. Secure garden was much appreciated, room for children to play. Ample parking. - Guiver

9/10 - We had all that was needed for a large family gathering and the facilities were all there for us to manage. Due to COVID there were not that many places open. We did enjoy Dunster Castle grounds and Dunster Beach. - Perry

9/10 - Could do with a larger oven, but other than that it was great. - Nunn

8/10 - The pool is lovely and all the children enjoyed playing and swimming. Rooms are excellent and very clean. All linen and towels were of very good quality. The owner is attentive, friendly and helpful. The pool table has seen better days and isn’t level and the WiFi is hit and miss. Overall the lodge is well equipped and we had a great time, would go again. - Stanley

9/10 - The entrance door to the property and to the pool were both very stiff and hard to open and close especially for the younger and older members of our party. And the only other thing which could have been better is for the stair gate to the bottom of the staircase to have been at the very bottom of the stairs or to have had one at the bottom of the staircase and at the foot of the staircase. Everything else was perfect ... it was immaculately clean, had everything we needed throughout our stay and we did not require anything that was not found at the property, thank you. - Williams

8/10 - Lovely accommodation. Kitchen area was small for size if property / number of guests. Children would have benefitted from more toys/games in the games room and some floats/toys in the pool. Disappointing that no food recycling or paper/glass recycling at the property. The electrical fault we had was dealt with and resolved promptly. Overall we had a great stay. - Howard

Response: "All our property owners take recycling very seriously and commercial ventures have to have the correct commercial waste collections in place. This makes sure that all wastes and recyclables generated from your holiday are transformed into high quality raw materials and renewable energy". - Sleeps12

8/10 - Good Family friendly facilities, comfortable bed and the place is clean and comfy. The owner was accomodating and provided our request i.e additional seats in dining area. Only thing was the wifi only worked just few hours then we couldn’t access at all. - Macasera

10/10 - The house was absolutely gorgeous and Tammy was so welcoming! The 12 of us all day a massive big thank you for making my 40th the best weekend ever!! - Hancock

9/10 - We loved the pool. Comfy beds. Lots of pots and pans. - Thorpe

8/10 - Really enjoyed the Castle at Dunster, the house was lovely but just needs a few things repaired like the shower in room 2, the door on the main oven, the door in bathroom 1, and most of all get the electrical testing done which is 3 months out of date. - Legg

Response: "The electrical PAT testing is all up to date at Crowcombe as with all our properties with certificates held at our offices." - Sleeps12.com

8/10 - The pool was great. The property needs a little TLC the shower rooms particularly got flooded too easily and some fans to be provided as the long bedroom in particular got very hot! We loved having 2 dishwashers. We can recommend days out to Brean adventure park - theme park something for everyone. Wimbleball lake and countrypark. Burnham On Sea for a beach date rockpooling at Kilve. - Coleman

9/10 - The indoor pool was wonderful as it was a little cool for outside swimming. The layout of the house suited us very well and everyone had plenty of space. Overall a lovely week away and we will remember your site for the future. Just one small niggle, there was nowhere to put toiletries in the bathrooms. Just a shelf would have been handy. Fyne Court NT area just 15 mins away was a wonderful day for all the family just to get out, walk and let the children blow off steam. For a more formal, but equally as good NT property, Dunster Castle is not to be missed, especially on Wednesday and Sunday when you can try archery or pistol shooting. The West Somerset steam railway from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead is a great day out. The children thoroughly enjoyed Diggerland. - Elliott

7/10 - We loved the pool and large dining area. The basic appointments were well covered off e.g. cutlery, TV, dishwashers etc. These are not moans but constructive feedback that should be put right for future guests: As regards being told there was shower gel, only one small (hotel size) bottle was provided and enabled one person one shower. So we purchased some. There was insufficient hangers in the wardrobes. The fridge leaked water. The bathroom at the front of the property has no shelf or cabinet to place toiletries. - Gaskell

9/10 - We visited Minehead and Watchet and would recommend both of these, Minehead is better for families and Watchet for couples. We also visited Blue Anchor which was nice for a short visit. The house was lovely, pool was used to the maximum by the children. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. The kitchen area, although not the biggest is big enough. I would recommend a new oven, the seal is broken on the current one and could do with replacing and adding a bigger one. The hob could also do with replacing, to a bigger one, cooking for 11 people was sometimes a strange. The fridge also needs looking at as it does leak at times, a large fridge freezer would work much better. Overall the accommodation was excellent, plenty of space, good swimming pool, comfy beds and in a lovely location, not too far from towns/attractions. - Wall

9/10 - Was very good for our small grandchildren with plenty of stairgates and enclosed outdoor space .liked the table tennis and indoor pool. And a big thank you to Gemma for resolving a couple of issues during our stay. - Pagett

10/10 - We loved our stay the house was perfect. The owner was so lovely, Perfect holiday. - Howell
