The Victoria Inn, Salcombe, Devon

Dine at the award winning Victoria Inn, right in the heart of Salcombe, just a stone’s throw from the Kingsbridge estuary; the feels are relaxed and welcoming, so it’s the kind of place where you can linger, enjoying the home cooked food and the happy ambience.

Outside, in the summer time, the front of the building is hung with baskets of flowers that tumble over the edges and down the walls; out the back there’s a garden with views over the estuary and the hills of the South Hams. Get inside and you’ll find plenty of rustic character, thick stone walls and ceiling beams, and the fireside to keep you warm after a wintery walk along the beach.

Local produce features high on the menu and it changes with the seasons. At lunchtime you can have the likes of a Southern fried chicken wrap, Sausage and red onion chutney sandwich, or a Prawn baguette, otherwise go for Steak frites, Falafel burger or Fish and chips. There’s more to tempt you on the main menu - a Seafood Sharer, 11oz T-Bone pork chop, Maylasian Laska, and pub classics including Chicken, ham hock and leek pie, Golden wholetail scampi, and 6oz West Country beefburger. Friends, family, good food and a laid back atmosphere; sometimes that’s really all you need.
