The Queens Arms, Slapton, Kingsbridge, Devon

The Queens Arms in Slapton is a good honest village pub; everything about this place is down to earth – the traditional interiors, the friendly staff and the home cooked food they serve.

Mains are pub classics and British favourites with quite a choice on the menu and portions are generous. Steaks, burgers, fish and chips and dishes like Chicken & leek pie, Thai prawn curry, and Steak & kidney pudding; it’s make your mind up time! Non meat eaters are well catered for with Mixed bean chilli, Broccoli and cream cheese bake, and Mediterranean vegetable lasagne. At lunchtimes there are sandwiches, jacket potatoes and light bites, there’s a children’s menu and some very tempting desserts (Apple & Cider cake anyone?).

Outside there’s a pretty part-walled garden with views over the village; inside it’s all ceiling beams, a stone fireplace and horse brasses. In the colder months when the log fire is roaring, it’s the perfect place to be after a bracing walk along the beach at Slapton Sands or along the clifftops on the South West Coast Path.

Dogs welcome.
