The Maypole, Wellow, Newark, Nottinghamshire
The Maypole is a former coaching inn that stands on the edge of the village green in the quiet village of Wellow, overlooking the maypole after which it is named. There’s a bar where you can warm up by the fire after a walk in Sherwood Forest on a chilly winters day, and there’s a light and airy restaurant; both have modern décor but there’s still something of that traditional village pub feel.
Food is pub fare that comes in generous portions and they have regular ‘nights’ – pie nights, pizza nights, and on Sundays a proper job Sunday roast.
