The Green, Sherborne, Dorset

Stroll to the top of Cheap Street in the historic mellow Hamstone town of Sherborne and you’ll spot this welcoming restaurant straight away, in a grade II listed building with a very attractive, picture-postcard exterior; heritage green paintwork, hanging baskets and window boxes brimming over with flowers.
Service is top-notch and friendly; the food is divine. You can choose from the menu du jour or the à la carte menu; all options are covered from light bites to three courses and you can look forward to delights such as West Country Veal Bitochki, Black Pudding & Wild Garlic, Cornish Cod Roasted in Pancetta, Creamed Leeks with Organic Spelt, Black Truffle & Lemon, and Wholegrain Buckwheat Kasha, Char-Grilled Chicory, Red Pepper, Pecorino Salata & Wild Mushroom Sauce.
Mouth watering? There’s also a Zakushi menu of sharers; this is the Greek equivalent of tapas, and you can expect to have your tastebuds tantalised by the likes of Olive Fried Calamari with Apple Balsamic, Thyme Chips with Black Truffle Mayonnaise, and Butterbean Hummus with Deep-Fried Flatbreads. On Sundays they serve a traditional family roast and oh boy, it’s a treat!
