The Fox & Hounds, Devizes, Wiltshire
Country meets town at The Fox & Hounds on the outskirts of Devizes; this red brick built pub with it’s thick thatched roof has much appeal both inside and out, with a log fire to keep things cosy in the winter months; when it’s warmer you can sit in the garden and should you decide to arrive on horseback, you can tether your steeds in the paddock.
If you’ve something special to celebrate they do carriage rides followed by lunch or a candlelit dinner, and if you’re not averse to the heebie-jeebies, you can do a horse drawn ghost or historical tour of the town, starting and finishing at The Fox & Hounds.
So, what’s on the menu? All those pub favourites, all home made and tasty-tasty, with seasonal and affordable being their buzzwords; Steak & Ale Pie, Chicken & Bacon Pie, Lasagne, Ham, double egg and chips, Bangers and mash, Slow roast pork belly, Steaks and how’s about this – Crab and lobster burger. There’s plenty of choice for vegetarians and lighter bites like baguettes and omelettes if you’re not so hungry. Lots of smiley friendliness, dogs most welcome provided they behave themselves; children likewise.
