The Feed Station, Merriott, Somerset

The Feed Station is a very relaxed café with splendid décor, in a gorgeous building that used to be the Sunday School in the Somerset village of Merriott not far from Crewkerne. As you’d expect, it’s right next to the church so it’s easy to find.
You might notice a bit of a bike theme going on and that’s because the owners love cycling, which was the main impetus for setting up this place - to provide a route stop for cyclists. The doors have always been open to everyone but if you like cycling or walking these people are happy to share routes. They even offer weekly guided rides that start and finish at The Feed Station and the good thing is it really doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or semi-pro, everyone is welcome.
So, go for breakfast, lunch, or coffee and cake; in the winter you’ll find a cosy wood-burner going, in the summer you can sit outside in the pretty courtyard. It’s all very homely, fully licensed and dogs are welcome.
A little peek at the menu reveals delights like Baked flat mushrooms with goats cheese and pesto on sourdough for brekkie, or waffles with smoked bacon and maple syrup, as well as the Full English. Lunches include a Charcuterie sharing board, Eggs and buttered kale, Paninis and sandwiches. There are also daily specials and afternoon teas by arrangement – a great idea for celebrations in a very lovely environment.
