Sparkles Indian At Rusty Axe, Stembridge, Martock, Somerset

Not so long ago Sparkles Indian at Rusty Axe in the tiny hamlet of Stembridge was a traditional country inn, but time changed and this place has stepped right into the 21st century with a brand new contemporary look and a switch to an Indian restaurant, though still with a bit of a pubby thing going on. At the time of writing, they haven't been open long but by all accounts, they are serving the local community well and the food seems to be appreciated. On the menu are all the favourites so if you're staying nearby at a Sleeps12 large group holiday house and you're hankering after some Indian cuisine, book a table and give it a try.

Alongside the contemporary feel of Sparkles Indian At Rusty Axe, there's this charming bit of history: legend has it that the pub was originally built on the spot where a tree was felled; in the trunk a rusty axe was found - the same axe that now has a very special place on the front of the building. We like that, proper Somerset that is.
