Nottinghamshire Civil War Trail, Newark, Nottinghamshire

The Nottinghamshire Civil War Trail will appeal to anyone who is interested in this turbulent time in England’s history. The county played a very pivotal role in the English Civil War and this is a very good way to see all the key sites with towns, houses, pubs, churches and earthworks featured.

Of course, you don’t have to do it al in one go; you might prefer to take it in a town at a time, starting with Southwell or Newark and moving on to Nottingham. The leaflet about the trail is very informative and even lists other attractions you might like to take in, like Newark Castle, Southwell Minster and the Archbishop’s Palace. Make a day of it, a morning or an afternoon, to include lunch at one of the many cafes, pubs or restaurants in the area.
