Newark Castle and Gardens, Newark, Nottinghamshire

Nearly 900 years of history await you at Newark Castle and Gardens, with a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Trent. The formal gardens are bordered by the castle walls after the castle itself was partly destroyed at the end of the Civil War, an event that the town of Newark played a significant part in.

Pathways are surfaced and accessible and there are seating areas within the garden where you can sit and take in the atmosphere, imagining the lives lived here, the scenes played out. Sometimes events are held here, with the bandstand used for live music and concerts so it’s always worth checking to see what’s on.
