Downclose Stables, North Perrot, Crewkerne, Somerset

Perhaps one of the best ways to get out there in the gorgeous Somerset countryside is on a pony trek with Downclose Stables. Their base is in the sleepy village of North Perrott where they have indoor and outdoor arenas as well as the stabling, and for more accomplished riders, there’s a very good cross country course.  So, book up for one or two hour long treks through the verdant fields and winding country lanes; there are 8 horses to suit varying sizes, and they’ll do lead reign rides for younger children (age 3 years+). You get all the necessary safety equipment and of course, instructors are all suitably qualified and experienced. If cantering along the shore is on your bucket list get ready to tick it off, because Downclose Stables can help to make that dream come true by taking the horses to one of the beaches on the spectacular Dorset coast.
These treks are a fantastic idea for those special occasions like birthdays and hen weekends, but hey, also just because it’s a lovely thing to do and you’re down this way on holiday, so why not? It’s certainly something you won’t forget in a hurry.
Round off your trek with a nosh up, raise a glass as the sun sets at the end of a wonderful day. Give Coombe Farm Organic a call – they’ll come and do you a scrumptious barbecue, a hog roast, paninis, or a picnic, whatever you fancy, and the good thing is the ingredients they use are all local and fresh as fresh can be – a proper job taste of the West Country! Perfick.
