The House
Step into the big open plan living space and oh wow, just look how lovely this is! All light and airy, with a kitchen at one end, elegant Chesterfield sofas at the other, and in the middle, a big dining table where you can tuck into hearty breakfasts and scrumptious feasts together. If you’re celebrating a special birthday or anniversary hire private chefs, book florists to make it all look pretty, get a cake delivered (see Extras).
Continue through the living space to Bedrooms 1-3 - all the bedrooms at Crowcombe have ensuite shower rooms or bathrooms, TVs and zip and link beds (super kings or twin).
Upstairs on the mezzanine landing there’s a pool table and a sofa bed for 1 extra guest (extra charge – see Extras). Off to each side are Bedrooms 4-6; Bedroom 4 sleeps 4 so it’s great for a family or for older children dormitory style.
Full height doors open from the living space onto the patio; leave them open to let the sunshine in, bigging up that holiday vibe, step out and get the steaks sizzling while the kids play table tennis or boing about on the trampoline. Right opposite the lodge is the private indoor pool, all yours and only yours for the whole of your stay.
This is such a great place to stay come rain or shine, a place to be happy, a place to make extra special memories.
Local Area
A stone’s throw from the doorstep you can stride out into the Quantock Hills and walk as far as you like; the scenery is absolutely stunning, with sun-dappled combes to climb and bracken-clad ridges to wander. Pack up a picnic and puff your way up Cothelstone Hill or Wills Neck where the views are incredible, stretching out over the landscape to the sea. Whether you explore on foot, by bike or by car, you won’t have to go far before you stumble across one of the pretty Quantock villages; if you’re organised, book ahead for a pub lunch. The Rising Sun at West Bagborough and The Carew Arms at Crowcombe are both good, or just up the road at the Farmers Arms at Combe Florey you can book your own private dining room.
Spend a day gallivanting around Exmoor National Park taking in beauty spots like Tarr Steps and Watersmeet; stroll ankle deep in last year's aumutn leaves at Horner Woods, see the thatched cottages at Selworthy, like something from an old-fashioned chocolate box. Round it off with big fat scones and jam and cream in the tea room.
Have a day at the seaside on the Somerset Coast, getting there by steam train with the West Somerset Railway; take your buckets and spades to Minehead to play on the sands, sit and watch the world go by on the harbour at Watchet, or hunt for fossils at Kilve. Go to Dunster to visit the Medieval castle (NT), take the young’uns to Tropiquaria Zoo or Doniford Farm Park, stroll around the lakes and follies at Hestercombe House & Gardens, see how cider’s made at Sheppy’s Cider.
Make your stay in the West Country unforgettable, make it joyful. Go home with the happiest memories, yours to keep forever.
