The Walnut Tree Hotel, North Petherton, Bridgwater, Somerset

The Walnut Tree Hotel is a former coaching inn right on the A38 in North Petherton, so easy peasy to find – and jolly convenient too! Go and have lunch or dinner there because the food and the service are both very good, and it’s easy to see why they’ve won awards for both. Ingredients are as local as possible, as they should be, and the setting, well, traditional is a word that springs to mind. The Lemon Tree Restaurant menu has very tempting British classics on the mains; Somerset duo of rump of lamb, Pan fried chicken breast, Pan fried sea bream, Miso glazed aubergine and 8oz rump steak from Pyne’s Farm Shop just up the road.
In the Bistro/bar it’s a bit more casual and they do things like hot and cold sandwiches and favourites like a Homemade beefburger, Beer battered fish, Bangers and Mash and Crispy Potato Gnocchi. The Sunday lunch is quite a feast with fish and vegetarian options besides the meat.
