The Rose & Crown, Stoke St Gregory, Somerset

UPDATE MARCH 2021: THE ROSE & CROWN IS NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED

In a peaceful village on the Somerset Levels, this lovely old inn is centuries old and family run; out the back is a beer garden, inside are flags on the floors, big fireplaces chunky beams and buttery yellow walls; all very welcoming and the more modern touches blend in well.
The food is pub grub, all home cooked using local ingredients; even the ham and the bread are home baked, so naturally, there’s a good choice of sandwiches at lunchtimes, though not Sundays because that’s when they do their popular Rose & Crown Roast. Weekdays and Saturdays there’s plenty to choose from; burgers, steaks, fish & chips, lasagne, and on the Specials are temptations like Beef & Butcombe Pie, Chicken Madras, Half a Crispy Duck with Orange Sauce, and fresh Fillet of Cornish Hake.
It’s just up the road from our large group holiday cottages; Riverside and Walnut Arbour, so if you’re staying there, give it a try. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Dogs welcome.

Open:  Mon-Sat 12.00-3.00 pm and 6.00-11.00 pm Sun  12.00-4.00 pm
