The Organ Grinder, Newark, Nottinghamshire
If you like proper beer and cider you should go to The Organ Grinder when you’re in Newark. It’s run by Nottingham based Blue Monkey Brewery and they have up to 7 cask ales on the bar, keg beers and real ciders, or if you don’t fancy a pint, you can have a glass of wine. If you’re peckish, have a pork pie or a sausage roll – they come from a local butcher and might just be the best you’ve ever had (try the Stilton topped pork pie – ooh!).
The feels are all friendly and welcoming, the décor is of the moment and the pub has character. It’s the kind of place where you could hunker down by the open fire on a cold and rainy afternoon, enjoying a few drinks, chatting and playing board games, but likewise it’s great when one of the customers decides to bash out a few tunes on the piano and a Mother Brown style knees up gets going. It’s fun, it’s light hearted and it’s a good one to go to with friends.
