The Green Bird Café, Bath, Somerset

You can’t miss this place with its green (no surprise there) paintwork, snuggled in a little street between the Royal Crescent and the Circus in Bath. It looks so inviting and it’s a nice setting with a slightly rustic feel that’s bang on trend right now. Service is smiley and food is locally sourced with a healthy focus; they’re famous for their breakfasts – homemade granola with berry compote, or a bespoke dish of fried, poached or scrambled free range eggs with a choice of toppings; roasted chorizo, crispy bacon, avocado, pan fried cherry tomatoes or smoked salmon. What a way to kickstart a day in the city.
At lunchtimes choose from open sandwiches, colourful salads, freshly baked tarts and soups made from seasonal ingredients, as well as whatever’s on the specials board. Throughout the day pop in for freshly made cakes.
