The Fox & Goose, Parracombe, Devon
Go to The Fox & Goose at Parracombe and you’ll find a fine selection of local ales and ciders and wholesome home cooked food; exactly what you’d expect from a pub in a laid back Devon village. It’s a proper Exmoor inn this one, the building is Victorian, interiors are in keeping with lots of bits and pieces of the era so there’s plenty for you to look at. The ambience is undoubtedly relaxed, and the welcome is warm and homely, so don’t be surprised if you find you want to linger, especially when they’ve got the fire lit in the colder months of the year.
The menu changes with the seasons, just as it should, with much of the ingredients coming from local producers and growers. It’s a mix of pub favourites like Beefburger and chips and Fish and chips, and specials – Fish stew, Slow braised lamb shank, Courgette stroganoff, Homemade game pie…
