The Five Bells, Clyst Hydon, Cullompton, Devon
From the car park a lavender lined path takes you to the door of The Five Bells; that speaks of the kind of relaxed and cosy ambience you’ll find inside this gorgeous old thatched farmhouse where they serve award winning food alongside more traditional pub fare. That’s why this village inn appeals to such a wide range of people – you can come for fine dining or for pub grub and whatever you have you’ll certainly get a decent pint or something very good from the wine list with it. Pub classics include Otter Amber Battered Fish & Chips, Wild Boar & Apple Sausages with Champ Potatoes & Greens, and Steamed Pheasant Pudding; on the Specials are things like Local Venison Loin, Braised and Flame-Seared Hake Fillet, and Vegetable Wellington, or if you fancy lobster or 21 day aged local Chateaubriand to share, you just need to give 72 hours notice. The other thing they do at the Five Bells is a cracking Sunday roast.
