If you're pootling about in South Molton, say it's market day and you're out and about filling your basket with local goodies, should you feel the need for a decent cup of tea or a hearty slice of cake, you couldn't do wrong if you went to The Corn Dolly Tea Shop. What a lovely name, eh? There's a big nod to West Country traditions there, and in that same vein, this place has been run by the same family for over 30 years, so you know, 'tis all proper job.
What they do at The Corn Dolly Tea Shop is light lunches, treats and cakes. Pop in for elevenses and tuck into a rich Chocolate Chunk Brownie or hot buttery crumpets, go for lunch and have a piece of homemade quiche (everything is homemade), a baked potato, or a Gamekeepers Tea. They offer gluten free options and they even do their own blends of tea and coffee. Portions are generous, staff are nice and friendly, the building full of country character with exposed timbers and brickwork, BUT. Don't go in a big group because the Corn Dolly isn't enormous by any means.
