The Cardinal’s Hat Inn, Worcester, Worcestershire

The oldest pub in Worcester, dating back to the 14th century; that’s 600 years of history packed into this building, so it’s no surprise to find several cosy rooms, wooden panelling, big stone fireplaces and leaded windows. There are some modern additions of course, but you get the jist.
There’s a good selection of ales and lagers and a wine list to match. Some of the bar snacks really hit the spot, not too much fuss but just what you want when you’re not hungry enough for a huge meal – Scotch Egg & Picalilli, Smoked Kippers on Toast, Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie Platters.
Service is friendly, everyone’s welcomed, kids and dogs included so if you’re in town with the family it’s a good place for a bite to eat.  If your fork suddenly disappears, don’t worry, it’s just the resident ghost. Just get another one and enjoy your food.
