The Bakehouse, Cullompton, Devon

Sometimes you feel so happy that you found something that you want to shout about it, to tell everyone, get them all going there, and this place in the sleepy Devon town of Cullompton is one of those things. Whether you pop in for breakfast, lunch or cake and coffee you’ll get the same friendly welcome, and it’s just a nice place to be, with that very fashionable look of old-meets-modern, you know, exposed brick, mismatched furniture, industrial style lighting; outside they still have the original family grocer shop frontage, all lovely and charming.
They open in the evenings too, from midweek onwards. Wednesday night is Italian night (pasta, pizza and classics), and from Thursday to Saturday it’s all wine bar bistro-ey with tapas and platters, and mains like Lamb, Fennel & Mint Burger, Wild Mushroom & Spinach Risotto, and Prawn Linguine.
Honestly, if you’re staying nearby on your large group holiday in Devon, you really should go – book first though and if there’s more than 10 of you you’ll have to pre-order, but they can take groups of up to 25 people.

Open: Every day but Sunday 9.00 am-5.00 pm Evenings 6.00 pm-10.00 pm Weds and 6.30 pm-11.00 pm Thurs-Sat
