The Abbey Inn, Buckfastleigh, Devon
This 3 storey quarry house is tucked in amongst the trees, off the road but that’s not to say it doesn’t get busy – it does, especially in the summer, which is understandable because it’s such a lovely spot, right on the River Dart in Devon. The Abbey Inn is family run and they do a very good job of it; they serve good quality, locally sourced food with pub classics and daily changing specials on the menu, plus a very popular pizza shack out on the terrace. If you fancy a wander over the moor, they have wellies you can borrow, as long as you bring them back nice and clean (as you find them). Dogs are welcome, in fact, they have their own ‘Doggy Bar’.
