Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset

When you ask people what Sandbanks in Dorset is famous for, the answer you’ll usually get is its expensive houses. And that’s true – this small peninsula has some of the highest property prices in the country and is something of a magnet for celebrities and those who like to live a lavish beach lifestyle.
Other than that, Sandbanks is well known for its golden sandy beaches, and is where you catch the chain pulled ferry over to Brownsea Island. There’s a crazy golf course here and a mini road train in the summer, so it gets quite busy, and it’s popular with people who come here for the watersports, for parascending and jet skis.
Shell Bay Seafood restaurant and Rick Steins, Sandbanks are both excellent places to eat,  but if you prefer something a little more down to earth go to Sandbanks Beach Café.
