Newark Air Museum, Winthorpe, Newark, Nottinghamshire

Newark Air Museum is very appropriately set on a former WWII training base and has two exhibition halls where you can see the likes of a Varsity, Vulcan, Shackleton and Hastings aircraft, with open cockpit days when volunteers are available. There are also displays of artefacts and ephemera where you can find out about the social history of aviation in the Newark area.

There’s a café serving hot and colds drinks and snacks, though if there’s a lot of you it’s wise to let them know beforehand as it’s not that big; in any case, group visits can be arranged for 15+people. If you want to take home a little souvenir of your trip to Newark Air Museum, pop into the shop where you’re bound to find something suitable. Car parking is free, well behaved dogs are welcome but they must be kept on a lead.
