Here’s a lovely activity for when you’re on your group stay in the West Country, something different for friends and family and hen parties, and perfect for corporate hospitality and team building. The Furleigh Estate is just a few miles from Bridport and a short drive from Crewkerne; the setting is absolutely breathtaking – 85 acres of vineyards, lakes and woodlands surrounded by the most beautiful Dorset countryside. Book for tours for groups of 12 people or for wine tastings for 6 or less.
Tours take place twice a day Wednesday to Saturday from February until October, with both the Grand Tour and the Classic Tour including a stroll through the vineyard, a talk on the history of English wines, a viewing of the impressive state-of-the-art winery and tastings of the contemporary still and sparkling English wines that are produced here. Tastings are 11.00 to 4.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and don’t necessarily need to be booked – you get to sample three wines and if you like what you try you can buy some from the shop to take home and enjoy.
They also do a sales and order collection service at Furleigh Estate, so there’s a thing – order top quality local wines and pop along to pick them up; at the same time you get to see what a wonderful part of the world this is and with the Jurassic Coast only 5 miles away you could easily tie it in with a trip to the beach or browsing the vintage quarter in Bridport.
