Devon Railway Centre, near Tiverton, Devon
Head down to the Devon Railway Centre near Tiverton and once you’re there you might lose track of time, you’ll be having that much fun. The littluns will love it, especially if they’re big on trains; they can let off loads of steam in the indoor and outdoor play areas and you can all pootle about the model village, model funfair and model railway, seeing everything in small scale. You can have a go on the Black Hold Orbiter Ride or play crazy golf, and then climb on board the narrow Gauge Railway or the Miniature Railway; children are encouraged to get involved, so they can clip the tickets and wave the flags to set the train off. When you’ve finished playing, go and find a table at Buffers Tea Rooms and order a pot of tea and a big fat slice of cake.
Open most days Apr-Oct 10.30am – 5.00pm but worth checking before you venture out.
