Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh, Devon

This really is rather a beautiful place to visit when you’re taking a large group holiday in Devon. Buckfast Abbey stands majestic in a wooded valley on the banks of the River Dart and it’s still home to a self sufficent community of Benedictine monks. You can find out about their life in the Monastic way exhibition, step inside the abbey church, spend a quiet moment in the Lavender Garden, the Physic Garden or the Sensory Garden. Take your time, soak it all up, browse the bookshop, the Monastic Shop, spend some of your hard earned money, have lunch in the Grange Restaurant  The whole place has such an incredibly tranquil, hallowed feel that you walk away feeling at peace, as though spring has arrived after a long winter, and thus it will always be.

Open: 9.00am-6.00pm daily (opening times for shops and the restaurant may differ)  No dogs.
