Bickleigh Mill, Tiverton, Devon
This 18th century working water mill near Tiverton in the Exe Valley is quite a surprise: three floors of shopping, a cosy Bistro & Bar in the Old Mill House, riverside walks and idyllic gardens.
You’ll find all sorts of delights to browse, with very well known names – Emma Bridgewater, Couer de Lion Jewellery, Joseph Joseph Kitchenware, Voyage Maison, Walton & Co Homeware, and Charlie Bears Collectables. The Old Corn Loft is a dedicated children’s store selling toys, clothes and furnishings.
The Bistro has a lovely ambience and a view over the waterwheel and gardens; log fires are lit in the winter and they hold regular events like Steak Nights and Fish Nights; they even have a celebration menu so if you have a birthday or an anniversary you’d like to raise a glass two, book up a table.
Whilst you’re here, stroll along the river, or find a quiet spot in the garden and see if you can spot a peacock.
